Celebration Quotation – January 4, 2016

Today’s quote comes from As You Like it – the image is of British actress Lillie Langtry in the role of Rosalind, taken some time in the late 19th Century.  Langtry was a celebrated performer and society beauty, whose friends included writer Oscar Wilde and artist James McNeill Whistler.  She was married multiple times, and was also reported to be the “unofficial mistress” of Prince Edward Albert, the son of Queen Victoria (and England’s future King Edward VII.)

Lillie clearly knew something about falling in love. She seemed to do it often!

"I pray you, do not fall in love with me, For I am falser tha vows made in wine." As You Like It, III, 5
