Celebration Quotation – February 14, 2016

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Today’s quote – in case you didn’t know – is from Romeo and Juliet:

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other word would smell as sweet. " Romeo and Juliet, Act II, Scene 2

This line is often misquoted – “a rose by any other name” – but word is the word printed in the First Folio, so we’re going to go with that.

The photo – taken in 1905 is of actress Margaret Halstan  (1879-1967) as Juliet, an English actress who made her professional stage debut at the age of 16 and carved out a long career on stage, in film and on television in Britain, acting well into her 80’s.   She was a member of the original London cast of the musical My Fair Lady (1958-59), playing the role of the Queen of Transylvania.
