Celebration Quotation – January 21, 2016

Today’s quote comes from Henry VIII:

"Tis better to be lowly born and range with humble livers than to be perked up in a glist'ring grief and wear a golden sorrow." Henry VIII; Act II, Scene 3

The image, an engraving of a painting entitled “The Condemnation of Anne Boleyn” is attributed to artist Robert Smirke, engraved by Francis Kearney in the early 19th century.  Although Shakespeare’s play does not depict the tragic turn in Anne’s life, this quotation does seem like something of a foreshadowing of her end.
