Celebration Quotation – February 1, 2016

Today’s quote is from All’s Well That Ends Well:

"The web of our life is of a mingled yarn; good and ill together." As You Like It, Act Iv, Scene 3

The line is spoken by a minor character – the Second Lord – but that’s one of the things we love about Shakespeare:  even his minor characters can have wonderful, memorable lines!

The image is an engraving of a late 19th century work by Sir John Gilbert, illustrating the scene in the play from which this line was taken.  We can only assume that the Second Lord is one of the men hiding behind the tree?  Which one do you think it might be?
